This week Aaron and D.G. are joined by our new dear friend Andrew Marin author of, “Love is an Orientation: Elevating the Conversation with the Gay Community.” We had a great time with Andrew and even though what he talks about is highly controversal, it is a vital topic that must be discussed in a thoughtful and loving way. No matter where you stand in relation to a GBLT community, friend, or family member, this conversation must happen in love and Andrew gives us all a great starting point.

Oh, and the outtakes are worth listening to this time, so be sure to stick around at the end to enjoy them.

This week Aaron and D.G. are joined by Professor/Dr. Soong-Chan Rah. Prof Rah (as he prefers to to called) is the author of the new book,

The Next Evangelicalism: Freeing the Church from Western Cultural Captivity . Prof Rah is the Associate Professor of Church Growth and Evangelism at North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago. We have a great conversation discussing the eminent future of the US’s changing ethnic culture away from the typical Western culture and how the kingdom can be expressed as fuller expression for the world wide Kingdom. A bonus is that D.G. gives all of our listeners a lesson in Korean, very funny! This week D.G. interviews David Nixon as requested by one of our faithful listeners! Dave is a wonderful friend living right here in Norwood, OH in the back yard of the brown House where Kevin lives and is a part of Vineyard Central! Dave and his wife run the Convent a urban retreat center to provide a place for renewal for ministers, pilgrims, and anyone else that might need some rest, retreat, spiritual directed retreats, etc… We really hope you will have a chance to come out and enjoy Dave’s hospitality. He truly is a wonderful Christ-filled man that longs to assist anyone in their Spiritual journey.

The Convent is a dream of Dave’s and his wife for the Kingdom. And just loike everything else in this econmic chalenge is attempting to stay afloat. Episode #37 Dr. Joseph Dongell

This week Aaron and D.G. are joined by one of D.G.’s previous professors Dr. Joe Dongell. The topic for today is salvation and judgment when it comes to the Christian God and if, “the Jews are God’s chosen people then won’t they be “saved” too?” Yeah, it gets good and deep in this podcast, and you will not want to miss the beauty of Dr. Dongell’s answer!

“Dr. Joseph R. Dongell” joined the faculty at Asbury Theological Seminary in 1989. He now serves as professor of Biblical Studies, with primary responsibility in the Inductive Bible Studies Department. He lives with his wife and two children, is an avid gardener, and extremely well loved by his students (including D.G.) He has written a few books two being Why I’m Not A Calvinists with Jerry Walls and a great commentary in John that never collects dust on D.G.’s shelf because he uses it often (but only after doing his own exegetical work first, of course! ha ha)

Just in time for Earth Day 2009, Aaron and D.G. are humbled and excited to share yall the Praxis Podcast listeners an interview with Matthew and Nancy Sleeth. They are both authors and Kingdom Praxis-ers! They invited us into their home, fed us amazing organic food, and had a wonderful “green” discussion. Maybe being green is not just a cultural fad, but way of God that god desires for us to live out in our lives! If you have friends that are green and wondering where the Christian voice is, then this is the podcast for you. Or, if your like D.g. and desire to respect God by respecting this earth and the lives of others, then please listen and start living a live of transformation today! Enjoy!

The Sleeth family’s environmental journey has paralleled their faith journey. As they began to live out what it means to love God with all their heart, mind, soul, and strength, and to love their neighbors as themselves, they found their calling: to live more simply. The first and most important miracle for the Sleeths is that their entire family came to know Christ, not just in their heads but in their daily actions. Hanging clothes on the line, washing dishes by hand, and growing their own food are all ways of they show daily respect for God’s creation, and love for their global neighbors.

This week Aaron and D.G. are join with Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove. Jonathan has a ton to say about the new monasticism movement that is becoming all the new rage in our world. And since he is one of the first to really be living out this ancient way of living he is a wealth of information and please find in the show notes links to his websites and books. Here is his bio:

Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove is an author, New Monastic, and sought-after speaker. A native of North Carolina, he is a graduate of Eastern University and Duke Divinity School.

Shortly before the United States began bombing Iraq in 2003, Jonathan and his wife, Leah, traveled there as members of a Christian Peacemaker Team determined to tell Iraqis that American Christians did not all support the war. Their experiences became the subject of To Baghdad and Beyond (Cascade Books: 2005), which describes the couple’s conversion to the “new monasticism.”

Jonathan is an Associate Minister at the historically black St. Johns Baptist Church, and is engaged in peacemaking and reconciliation efforts in Durham, North Carolina. The Rutba House, where Jonathan lives with his wife Leah, their son JaiMichael, and other friends, is a new monastic community that prays, eats, and lives together, welcoming neighbors and the homeless.

Jonathan directs the School for Conversion, an alternative seminary that hosts courses around the country. He is Editor of the New Monastic Library Series (Cascade Books) and Associate Editor of the Resources for Reconciliation Series (InterVarsity Press).

An evangelical who connects with the broad Christian tradition and its monastic witnesses, Jonathan is a leader in the new monastic movement and conversations about Christianity in the 21st century. He speaks often to churches and conferences of the “new evangelicals,” but also connects with Mainline and Catholic audiences who are interested in reconnecting with ancient Christian practices. Writing as both a grassroots intellectual and popular theologian, Jonathan connects with a broad audience, engaging them personally on a wide spectrum of challenges facing the church today.

This week Aaron and D.G. are join with Troy Bronsink. We met Troy at the Great Emergent Event last year and was very interested in all of the things this guy has going on in his life. From his passion about Art in the church, to his writings, and his music this is a guy you must listen to, to experience his passion for the kingdom! Here is his bio:

Troy Bronsink is an artist and a pastor seeking the way of Jesus. He and his wife, Kelley, and daughter, Eve, live in the Capitol View neighborhood of downtown Atlanta, where they work in community organizing and public education. Troy is a Presbyterian USA minister with 10 years of experience in youth ministry and as senior pastor, a worship leadership and singer-songwriter in both the mainline and para-church worlds, co-leader of the Atlanta Emergent Cohort, & contributing author to the 2007 Baker Emersion release, “An Emergent Manifesto of Hope”.
